Pop and Whitney (my youngest daughter now 17) sitting at the temple waiting for Nate and Cami to have pictures taken. Which one looks the most excited?
Pop and Glenna at Glenna's house in San Diego. We were there for Michaels 16th birthday, it was a wonderfull time.

Dad and Eric at the San Diego Chargers football game. Eric is fixing dad a hot dog. Not sure about you but I think dad wasn't interested.

Two best bud, nothing more need to be said

Harold and Dad at the family Christmas party held at the homestead for 25 years. Its been nice.

Grandpa is out of the hospital as of today Feb. 25th, 2008. Yes you are correct, if you say that it has been an interesting ride, that would be an understatement. I sometimes wish the Doctors in all their wisdom and knowledge would tell you more and to be prepared for events that may or may not happen. I found myself a bit unprepared for what we saw and experienced these last 4 days in the hospital.
Not to go into to much of what happened, but let me say this......there was more than once that we thought by this time next week we will be at his funeral. As usual he pulls through only to be exhausted beyond measure. I posted a few of the pictures we have taken, nothing to exciting, just some family pictures. He is doing well and we thank you once again for your thoughts and prayers.
If you have a chance I will invite you to write a hello to him on this blog, to keep his spirits up. Also if you wish to call him, that would be nice also. This blog is dedicated to those who gave up work time and personal time to sit with dad when he needed it most. Thank you Harold, it's a good thing you work for the government and have so much personal time, because you were tireless in your visits and your care of the old man. You get a gold star!! Kerry and Kay have never been far away and was and always has been close by, with timely visits, big hugs and kisses. I cannot say enough about Glenna and Maren, who living so far away, must have the hardest job of all.......waiting for the daily updates. We know they would have been here if they could. Jody Anderson for the love of her big brother and the interest she has to make sure he is taken care of. Many of you who have made the trek to say hi, you have no idea how much it means to Pop and to us as a family. I got 3 phone calls today from friends of mine who knew Pop was in the hospital. All they wanted to tell me that they have been praying for him to get better soon. Now how nice is that? I would say that there have been many more than that, that we don't know about. Thanks to them also. May I say this to all who were mentioned and those I have missed, you are top drawer to this family, number one, the big kahuna. May my brothers and sisters know that the Lords richest blessings will be with them always, because of the love which you have shown to us all and especially to Dad. He is doing better because of all of your prayers, love and concern

Marvin Is Looking For a New Hair Piece

Today Dad, Grandpa, Marvin, Uncle Marv, Pop, Old Fart........(you get the picture), came through the brain surgery better than we expected. Not sure what that means other than, he didn't have to spend any time in the ICU.

They did have to take a small piece of his skull out and then replace it again. You will see by the drain tube that he is still having some small amount of blood drainage. He has been very alert and his old personality seemed to be back. His appetite has not returned yet, but we expect that to recover also. They shaved only 1/2 of his head for the surgery, it makes you wonder if they do that just to make you look silly. If we color Pops hair, he could be considered a punk rocker. I think we are going to take care of the side mow-hawk and give him the Yule Brenner look when he gets home.

Colette and Whitney seeing Grandpa, no one is sure if he still has MRSA or not. We left the hospital and robbed a bank, figured why waste good a mask.

Not sure how long they intend to keep him in the hospital, but the doctors first estimate was 3 days. You know Pop he just loves the hospital and it's wonderful service. I think he likes the young nurses. I could be wrong, I'm just saying, his blood pressure goes up when they come in, it's simple math 2+2 ya know. It will be nice to have this over with and get him back home and back to normal.....................what is normal in the Jorgensen family. Thanks for all your prayers. Be sure to chime in and say hi on this blog site, he will read them when he gets home. By the way if you haven't talked to him without his teeth in, you would swear he was from another country. Too funny!!! Lynn

Back to the Hospital Again!

Yep, you guess it, Pop is back in the hospital. He was schduled to have surgery on Monday the 25th of Feb. but he took a turn for the worse and back in he went. He is having emergency surgery today Feb. 21st at 11 am. Apparently the blood on his brain has become mush and will not drain away. The CAT Scan found new blood on the back part of his brain, but it doesn't seem to be what is causing his problems. The thick bloody substance will need to be removed and cleaned inside, then a water salt solution will replace the blood and allow the brain to regain it's size. This will take the pressure off and allow Pop to walk better and talk better. They will drill a hole on the side of the skull remove the blood, replace it with water and salt solution and then put a plug in the drilled hole. A drain will be place in his skull for a short period of time. They will then take another CAT Scan to see what if anything more they will need to do. At his age nothing is an easy procedure, we are all praying for steady hands and a strong will. Pop is a tough old bird and we all know he will fight this one every day. Another up date will be given after the surgery and we have more to report to everyone. Your comments and thoughts can be posted on this web-site if you wish to say hi to the old fart.

Whitneys Prom Pictures

Now Whitney doesn't know that I have done this. If she only knew what I was doing she would kill me. Her date is Chris Rucks a nice youngman in our stake and a Sophmore at Idaho Falls High School. Mom made the dress as always. I have to tell you that most of Whitneys friends told her not to accept the invitation to the prom, because he was so........well short. Whitney did go and both her and Chris had a fun time. It's all in your attitude. I told her that she needs to have so much fun that it makes all the others wish they could trade places. She looked wonderful and we are proud.

Ok so we are at a members house that is way cool and i was doing some picture transfering stuff cause of my stupid move of deleting all my pictures so i thought i would drop a picture and an up date real quick.

Things are going good the work in this area is picking up so i think that it will get better by the time that i leave this area haha so i may not see it all but we got some good things working with some members, so i am pretty excited about that, thats always the more solid people is the ones the members find for us so yeah. I am not sure if i have told you yet but this past year we got 313 baptisms in our mission in the year 2007 and in janurary President Hinckley asked all the missions in the US and Canada to double thier baptisms so now our new goal for 2008 is 840 baptisms!!! Yeah thats alot but our goal is to work with the members more so that we have more of an oppertunity to find those who are really searching for something in thier lives so yeah thats what the new goal is for us and i am excited to see if we do it i know its possible. Any way i better get going i hope that you all have a wonderful day and thanks for all your love and support!
Oh and the picture is of the people that got baptized down in hillsboro which i went back down and baptized her. their name is Connie and Bob Christian!

Love,

Marvin Jacob Jorgensen Hospital Stay Update

Looks like Grandpa, Marvin, Uncle Marv, and Dad will be headed home on Valentines Day! Call him at home and say hello, it would be good for him. He still gets tired fast but at least he can be home to recover. Thanks for your prayers Lynn

Marvin Jacob Jorgensen Hospital Stay

I would normally post a picture of those who we blog about, but in this case Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Marv, would kill me if I posted a picture of him while in the hospital. Here is the up to date info that we have on his health. I know everyone is waiting to hear how he is feeling and what the doctors final say is about going home.

As of last night Feb. 12th, he was doing much much better. His speech was back and he can formulate complete sentences. He is still pretty tired and walking the hospital floor poops him out pretty quick.

The blood on the brain seems to be slowly repairing itself. There for a while we thought that his condition of walking and communication was permanant but alas he is a tough Danishman and an honry old fart and seems to be doing better.

He slipped and fell while going to the mail box and getting the newspaper early in the morning. He had his flashlight and paper in hand when returning to the house, he slipped and fell. As Grandpa says it "I don't fall very gracefully" He went down hard on his back, tailbone, elbow and his head. His symptoms from the blood on the brain did not show up for about a week later, when Grandma noticed his odd behavior and slurred speach. Her first thought was "Stroke", but thankfully we found out that it was the bump on the head and the blood.

To top all this off, we found out that he has "MRSA" a highly contagious infection that he got from grandma. So now he is being treated for his injury from the fall and this infection. As everyone who knows Gramps, knows how he just loves staying in the hospital, can you say caged cat or angry alligator? Lets face it, hospital food is not high on his list of fine cuisine at a four star resturant.

Thanks goes to everyone who has called and expressed their love and concern for his well being. He knows who has called and who has visited him. It is always nice that his sisters remember him, Dorothy and Jody are wonderful and he appreciates the flowers and visits. Kenny and Karen Anderson, the Jorgensens in California Jane, Shirley, Marlane Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Uncle Bud for coming up and spending time with Grandpa, and to everyone else I was unaware of, thank you, thank you, thank you.

This is one of those times we all take stock of our lives and assess our mortality in this life. It's short and when someone is sick, we step back and take that inventory of our lives and recommit to doing better and realize how important our family is to us, no matter how far away they may live.

If you wish to contact Grandpa J. his room number is 208-529-7529, he would love to hear from you. If he is home their phone number is 208-522-1742. Thanks to all who remember our family and Grandpa, it's your love and prayers that has helped him through this time of trial.

Aint that Sweet.

Its really crazy to think that Andy and I have been married for almost 8 months. Time sure flies by! Its funny the things you learn about a person after you marry them...and how you really get to see them in all situations. Here are a couple of things I have learned about Andy since we have been married.

1) Andy has a wall, and its a brick wall. At a certain time of each night (it can range anywhere from 8:30pm - 9:30pm) Andy hits his wall. He is no longer functional...I always tease that if we were to have an intruder I would be the one to scare him off (how, I don't know) -because Andy is so out of it. Occasionally he will stay up later, but even if we are mid conversation with friends or neighbors, if he is sitting on a couch, he is sure to doze off. It must be all those early Army mornings!

2) Andy won't sleep under the covers. As a gift with the money he won from his essay, Andy bought us a down comforter. We both wanted one so badly and so last May he got one in NY before he graduated. Needless to say, I don't think he has used it to this day. Instead, I sleep under the comforter and he sleeps on top of it, with a blanket. I am not sure why, maybe he gets too hot under the covers. Its the same every night, and I think mom will be happy to hear- that he uses the quilt you made him for his graduation. Here he is in action (I caught him!).

3) Andy hates the sound of ripping paper. It gives him the weebie jeebies! To him, its like nails on a caulk board.

4) Andy is the greatest missionary. He takes every opportunity to talk to his friends about the gospel and he is so knowledgeable. He definitely out-shines me in this area, I have a lot of work to do!

5) Andy is an awesome story teller, if he is telling you an experience from the past, you always feel like you were right there. He doesn't leave out a detail, I like this because dad is the same way.

Anyway, thats just a couple of things. The list goes on but I am sure we will have time to share those for the next umpteen years :)

Love you!

A Week In Nebraska

This will be my first entry into the blog spot. I think it will be my last. But in order to keep mom happy I will tell you where I went and what I did.

Yes your seeing correctly, I am driving a tractor trailer. Even though it was in a drivng simulator, it had everything a real truck would have. I did fine and scored very high on my driving. They want me to go to work for them now. Maybe not.

This is part of the hunting lodge I stayed in for the week. It cost $5 million to build. It was on 600 achers and has it's own fishing pond, hunting reserve and airport (small planes only).

Some of the trophys on the wall, given to the lodge by customers and friends. Most of the animals that were shot from Africa were shot from the owner of the trucking company.

The hunting lodge had everything for you. They gave us our own bright orange hat. Then provided us with a winter coat, shooting gloves (although I used my own). Hunting boots, which I think I am going to buy, the best boots I have ever had. I didn't even wear winter underwear I was so warm.

Now I know what your thinking! Look my dad has a shotgun in his hands!! Before I married your mother I was as comfortable with a gun in my hand as a bowling ball, base ball, golf ball or even a basketball. Yes I used to hunt phesants, ducks, rabbits, deer, elk, pine hens. It has been many, many years sense I have gone out like this. They have a shooting range where we shot clay discs to get warmed up. Most of the ones I shot at only broke on impact with the ground. It was all I could do to get my gun eye, to lead the target enough to hit the d&*+ thing. After about 20 shots I wasn't getting any better so we left.

It's time to get all oranged up for the hunt. Our guide was filling the pockets for Jose with 20 gage shotgun shells. We must have had more that 100 shells between both pockets. I think I used only 50-60 each hunt. Jose wasn't to big on the idea of hunting, he wanted to stay in the lodge where it was warm and cozy. Besides after this hunt he got real sick and went to bed and stayed there all night and most of the next morning.

It was time to pick our dogs for the hunt. They had 7 to choose from and they all were excited to go. They told us not to shoot the birds unless they were head high or above. The dogs would jump so high they could and did pick the birds right out of the air. I think the dog your looking at in the picture jumping got more birds than Jose did and Jose had a gun.

They had about 4 stops along the way to unload all the birds we shot. They would hang them on this bird post. Can you tell Jose was really cold? At this point we had shot 23 birds in less than 400 yards of hunting. By the way they raise their own birds, but we still had to hit them. I gave more birds a sore butt than I did killing any of
them. Can you say buck-shot enema?

First day of shooting bagged 47 birds. Here we are holding our dinner for the night. By the way Phesants cooked in orange liqure is mighty good. I think I got a buzz from the alcohol. he he,....na most of it burns off.........most of it. he he ho ho ha
ha. It was good.

More pictures of the Lodge

Our dinner table

These are the guns that they have for the shooting range in the basement of the lodge. Recognize these Andy? How is your grouping? Can you tell what type of gun is on the right? Can you say Rambo?

Ok here is one of my groupings with the gun to the right. A Smith and Wesson 500 the largest hand gun made. I had a smile on my face with this one. Nothing like a gut shot, a slow death. I was the only one to hit dead center on the X. This gun makes a big hole.

Ok what your seeing here is a happy boy who shot a 44 mag on the left and the S&W 500 on the right. This the end of my blog.
I was to be home on Thursday night at about 11 PM but my flight was cancelled due to weather in Chicago. So I didn't leave until the next moring and it was late. I missed my connecting flight in Denver and had to wait until 2:30 for another one. I got home about 4 pm a day later. Isn't mother nature wonderful to travelers? If you would like a coffee table book of my adventures in Omaha Nebraska, it will be out at the end of the year. I have 136 pictures, if you would like I will e-mail them all to you. NOT!!!

New Year, New Blog

So you may have noticed the new look of the blog. For some reason I was having problems with the last template and decided to use just a generic one. Hope you are diggin the new style. I also had to delete Megan's entry with the video. SORRY Megan, for some reason the video was so large it was expanding things a little. Anyway, I watched the video several times and thank you again for the birthday wish! Sounds like things are pretty laid back in the Jorgensen home. We haven't been up to much here in Missouri either. I have come down with some sort of cough/cold/hack that makes my body ache...but hopefully I am getting over it. I work tomorrow, so that will be nice. I was supposed to work today, but it snowed so much and the roads were so bad that it would have taken me about 2 hours just to get there for a 4 hour shift. I felt silly calling in for that, but the night before it had taken me two hours to get home. Plus I have to take the windy farming roads. Not good in ice. (I have been trying to justify my decision all day). Anyway...Just a check-in from the Stockhoffs. WE LOVE YOU GUYS!
